Walk this way to Springside
5 April 2010
With 75 per cent of homes in the first phase of the development now sold, Springside apartments, designed to meet the current demand for smaller, more affordable city centre units, are clearly hitting the spot with buyers. The high quality of the development has been recognised by Springside being shortlisted for two awards – Apartment of the Year and City Apartment of the Year – at this year’s prestigious Scottish Home Awards.
Connected
As Springside flourishes, new walkways have been built to create improved links between the development and neighbouring parts of the city. The new thoroughfares will cut journey time between Fountainbridge and Haymarket train station in half, taking less than 10 minutes on foot.
Convenient
“Springside is a great location, combining city centre convenience with quick access to Haymarket, which itself is being transformed through renewed investment and visionary development schemes,” said Dr Ali Afshar, director of AMA, which together with Grosvenor and Royal Bank of Scotland forms the joint venture company behind the development.
“The reassurance of quality and sustainability that comes with buying a home from developers with such strong credentials as those at Springside, can only be regarded as an investment for the future.”
Celebrated
To celebrate the history of the development’s Fountainbridge location, new street names have been chosen to commemorate some of Edinburgh’s most successful brewers originally based at the former Scottish and Newcastle site.
Younger Steps, McEwan Square and Melvin Walk provide a pedestrian route between Dundee Street and West Approach Road joining the Haymarket and Fountainbridge communities and allowing for easier access throughout the area.
