Construction marks a fresh start in this part of Edinburgh and paves the way for new energy to come into the area and transform it.
The student residence is being built by Keyhaven, through iQ Property Partnership, a joint venture between Quintain Estates and Development Ltd and the Wellcome Trust.
When complete in September 2008, the 314-room, seven storey residence will form one part of a growing neighbourhood in the heart of the capital.
